Websites like eBay, that let us sell our unwanted stuff can be extremely useful tools. You make a little bit of money, and a stranger gets the second hand sex doll of their dreams. It’s a win-win.
But they can also be used for some practical fun, often at another person’s expense.
However, for prankster Dale Leeks, 34, from Essex, UK, the joke backfired after he put his girlfriend up for sale on eBay. The listing compared girlfriend of almost a year, to an aged automobile. Warning potential buyers that she made a ‘constant whining noise’ and she has ‘no serious damage but you can see she’s been used’.
Then, he listed the bodywork as ‘fairly tidy but close up shows signs of wear’, adding that ‘the rear ends leaks a bit but nothing that can’t be plugged’. Which was truly hilarious. And, a way to put yourself in the doghouse. So, don’t do this if your significant other doesn’t have a phenomenal sense of humor.
The listing was meant to get back at his girlfriend after she hit him on the ass with a horse whip.
Initially, the listing received only a few bids from Dale’s friends. But, within 24 hours it had been viewed more than 8,000 times and more than 100 bids had racked up, with a highest bid of £70,200 ($91,800).
The landscape gardener said: “After I put it on eBay I just kept laughing about it and she asked what I was laughing about.
“I told her I’d put her up for sale on eBay and was like, ‘gotcha’.”
“But we went out for dinner that evening and I was being bombarded by messages from all over Europe, and places as far away as America and Australia.
“I kept looking over the table at her but I wasn’t really telling her the scale it had gone”
“But from there it just majorly spiralled out of control. The bids started going mad.”
“I was like, ‘Wow, what have I done?”
Unsurprisingly, the prank ended up getting weird. With ‘interested buyers’ messaging him to ask about service history, test drives and hard revving. But, Dale saw the funny side.
He said: “At one point I was getting a message every 30 seconds. I received hundreds of messages.”
“We had a lot of funny messages on eBay from people. But, some of the messages I found the funniest, you probably couldn’t repeat.”
Obviously, the listing was taken down by eBay. Although, it seems Kelly at least would have been happy to go ahead with the sale.
Dale added: “Kelly turned round and said to me, ‘So what price would you actually have sold me for? Would you have been upset if someone actually bought me?’
“I said I would have been upset but I would have been crying in either a Lamborghini or a Ferrari, which makes it a whole lot better.
“She said if the new owner had that kind of money then she was going to have a better quality of life. So it could have backfired.”
In conclusion, don’t sell your girlfriend on eBay. Unless, she hits you on the ass with a bullwhip. Because, that sounds incredibly painful. This couple clearly has a great sense of humor. I don’t think my significant other would be so happy. LOL. I mean my significant other gets mad when I forget to do the dishes. I couldn’t imagine how she’d react if I put them up for sale. Actually, I could. It would involve me sleeping on the couch for a couple of weeks.
