Massachusetts- Radoslaw Czerkawski, 37, was sentenced last week, nearly five years after the dog(named Puppy Doe) – hit headlines – after being found abandoned and brutalized.
He has been given an 8 to 10 year sentence after being convicted of abusing a dog so badly it had to be put to sleep. In other words, he murdered a dog. And, is now facing up to a decade in prison.
Czerkawski was found guilty of 12 counts of animal cruelty. He was sentenced to up to 10 years of prison time and an additional 2 years probation.
The puppy named ‘Puppy Doe’ was found with a stab wound to the eye and multiple fractures in her skull. All wounds that would go in line with being brutalized.
Puppy Doe caught the attention of millions when her story went public. It was unthinkable to think that a person would do such a heinous thing to such a beautiful animal.
Czerkawski was unsurprisingly already in prison for stealing more than $100k from an elderly woman that he had been caring for. So, not only is he an animal abuser, he is the kind of person that would steal from an elderly woman. Undeniably, he is a disgusting human-being.
Initially, Prosecutors pushed for 10 to 15 years for the animal cruelty charges. But the dirtbags defense argued for four-and-half to five. So, he wound up getting 8 to 10 years with an additional 2 years probation.
The court heard Czerkawski had received threats and had been attacked while in prison. I don’t usually condone violence. But, he hurt caused a defenseless animal to be euthanized. Absolutely unacceptable.
He was found guilty of torturing and abandoning the dog – named Kiya – but was cleared of lying to police.
Animal Rescue League President Mary Nee told Patch the court’s decision was ‘historic’. And, said it will help usher in stronger animal welfare laws.
She said: “Today was a historic day for animal welfare in Massachusetts. With the conviction and sentencing of Radoslaw Czerkawski, it has been demonstrated that people who commit animal cruelty, and in this case extreme cruelty, will be held accountable.
“Ironically Puppy Doe’s short and tragic life was the impetus for stronger laws protecting all animals in the Commonwealth and there’s still more work to do.”
The best part of all of this. After his sentence is complete he will be deported back to Poland. That’s a win in my book. So, he wont be able to hurt anymore animals in our country. The Norfolk County District attorneys office guaranteed that the piece of garbage’s probation wont delay his deportation.
